Short trip to BZH

Went for a short trip to Brittany, aka Breizh (BZH) One of my favorite places. No matter what kind of a conditions, there will always be some great days.
Took the bus and drove early in the morning through a dark and rainy Holland/Belgium.
As soon as I arrived in France the sun started to shine and the temperatures rised. Finally!!

Unfortunately there was no swell in the beginning, but hey.. nothing wrong with turquoise clear water between high cliffs. Just easy relaxing windsurfing with some local friends.

Ronja felt at home in the rabbit dunes... Holiday pur sang for all of us

Local sea food? anyway you don't want to duckdive, and find this item on your head going up again..

I'm not such a flatwater blaster, ehhh normally with these winds (without swell) I couln't/wouldn't even windsurf... but these Hot fire power editions got so much pull that they got me going.

A nice "belly" in this wavesail

Unexpected help..

Paul came straight from the PWA in Podersdorf/Austria to visit me (a loooong drive). What a luck, I was just packing the bus, so he could give me a help... hahahhaha.
He found my spidercrab hunting tools..
After sharing some pizza's he found the energy to drive his last miles home.

Thanx Paul for all your help. See you soon

Liberation day

Liberation Day is celebrated each year on May 5th in the Netherlands to mark the end of the German occupation during World War II.
The nation was liberated largely by Canadian troops, with the assistance of the British and American Armies
Our 3 colors. Orange is our royal family color.

Luckely we had great weather, so the parties outside went on all night...
(At the end of my street was a music (eat/drink) festival with more than 130.000 visitors...)

But in the garden it was also ok.. Live music in the background and no stress to get your snack and drinks

Sort of turkish homemade lamb burger. Super tasty!

Nemo colorway

Above the clownfish. Below Nemo sushi ;-)

Last weekend I discussed with Winfried some colorways for my new board. Fading neon yellow into neon green, or as another option something with white and bright orange... as the SOS rocket 88. A Nemo fish...

Well yesterday I came across a picture of Glenn with a new SOS board in his hands...
and in what color??........

sport QUATTRO's

Yesterday I went with the bus to my friend Erik for a engine check. He serviced en spiced the engine up for next weeks travel. If someone got knowhow on cars, engines etc it's him. You could almost say that he's a combo of McGyver and a state of the art Formula One team.

When I arrived he was working on 2 ultra rare original Audi sport quattro's from 1985.
The Audi sport quattro was a car developed for homologation for Group B rallying in 1984, and sold as a production car in limited numbers.

A total of 224 cars of this "short version" quattro were built. So do your best and try to spot one..

To reduce the weight of the car, and to strenghten it up they allready used carbon/kevlar for the body shell and parts.

here a movie clip that goes back in time..

Hmm.. would this engine also fit into the bus?

MTV cribs visits Paul....

I was watching the live ticker from the PWA at Podersdorf and had a good laugh at what I read. A little MTV cribs style visit of Paul's car....

PWA live ticker:".....

12:17 With little action on the water, we thought we'd find out what living the dream involves for the young pro freestyle sailor on the tour.

12:21 First off, we jumped into the Dutch styler Paul Zeper's car to find out what his crib was like, MTV stylee. As soon as we jumped into the car we were told that it's not actually his, it was in fact his father's. So any young wanabees out there, please take note: parents with a willingness to lend you a car to drive 1200km are a real asset!

12:26 And secondly, if they fill the car with enough food to last you a week, it will almost definitely get eaten, even though lunch and dinner is provided by the organisers! Oh, and chocolate Oreo's are the new snack of champions!

12:30 Head judge Duncan Coombs has just interrupted us. Sailors are to remain on standby for another hour. Next update at 13:30.

12:32 And now, more importantly, back to life on tour.

12:34 With 400 euros in your pocket, an entry fee to pay, and fuel to be purchased, it doesn't leave much spare change for a decent crib.

12:36 This doesn't deter the newcomers to the tour though. At 7 euros a night they can camp in virtual luxury right next door to the event site, which just happens to be the perfect stumble back after a hard days sailing and an evening in the tent full of Austrian partygoers!

12:40 When Zeper makes it back to his crib, he doesn't have too many luxuries. Instead, his green cloth home is filled with cardboard boxes which used to protect his brand new F2 Rodeo!

12:50 And, with fifteen hot young girls as neighbours, all sharing a camper van on one side, and Steven Van Broeckhoven on the other, what more does he need! If he feels like chatting tricks and tips he's sorted, and if he needs something to take his mind off competing, well, he's got fifteen of those!

12:54 One thing, or should I say many things, that do seem to take up a lot of room in Zeper's home are his collection of hats. For someone who's only away for a week, he must have a different cap or trilby for every occasion!

13:00 He's not the first freestyler to have a certain obsession with a particular part of their wardrobe though. Apparently Taty Frans travels with more pairs of boardshorts than the rest of the freestyle fleet combined!

13:02 Anyway, that's enough of us rambling about one man and his tent for now. If the wind refuses to play ball this afternoon, we'll try to set up some more alternative entertainment. Watch this space. And, watch out for Zeper's crib in JC's picture gallery this evening!

Paul to PWA Podersdorf

Paul is going to Austria to compete in the PWA freestyle competition. I couldn't join him on his trip but he will keep us posted. Paul, succes!!

As some of you know I got a wildcard for the PWA Podersdorf. Hopefully I can compete on all the PWA events this year. Tommorrow I will leave to Austria. 4 sails some masts some booms and one board are packed. My first stop will be in Schleiz in Germany where I will pick up my F2 Rodeo 98. Proto and custom boards are not allowed in the competition

I will leave around 06.00 and plan to arrive around 23.00. Hopefully the ride will be smooth without many trouble. In Podersdorf I will meet the rest of the Holland/Belgium crew. This time there are a lot of guys from Belgium and the Netherlands.

Mobile pics....

I found some pictures on my mobile phone. Didn't even remember I made these, so must have been a pleasant night ;-) If the waves don't make you wanna go there, Erwan's "Rum arrangé" definitely will!!
This was some potent chemical mix.... popular.... Let's just say a different version of the green room....

Last weekend...

I spotted in the rearview mirror one of the best hips a car could have..

The trees did their best to give me that hawaiian look/feel... (last year around these days we were there..)

The meat Herman made tasted perfect!

I spotted one flower in the garden that outclassed some hawaiian one's.. ;-)

Linda's pasta was great! ps: Succes in Finland comming week, still zero degrees overthere??

Ronja tought me how to find rabbits between the high green gras

Izzy tought me how to relax.. ;-)

Bretagne pt 5....

I still have some pictures I didn't want to keep from you guys. And off course it's a nice teaser for David, who will be heading to Bretagne in about 15 days.

The last days of our trip were the first days of summer this year. Perfect blue skies and very light offshore breeze. Small waves made this a real summer day.

Just some playing around in the water and on the beach.

We also spotted the special forces of France. Especially trained for the rough terrain in Afghanistan. This guy was running with his donkey !?!

Some wild life enjoying the sun.

Same bay as the big day, but now with 30cm waves. What amazes me is that you can still see the lines despite the tiny waves.
