Different perspective

In Bretagne we met a really nice couple at the beach. We had a nice chat about Bretagne, the amazing food, the wind and waves, the sun and the beautiful empty beaches. And off course that we had to come there again....

She had taken some pictures from his sessions with some pretty professional looking equipment. Turned out he was a professional photographer, so I asked him if he could send me some of those pictures to post here on our blog. No problem, he said ;-))

When I got home I checked out his website. He has done some interesting work. Shooting at big concerts from bands like Bon Jovi, Rammstein, Guano Apes and Alice Cooper. But also shooting travel stories (keep your eyes open for the Ireland story in the dutch Surf Magazine). He sent me a link to the pictures they made in Bretagne, and it's always cool to see a place you know well, through the eyes of someone else. It gives you a different perspective.

Thanks Chris!!!

I made a small selection of their photos. (images by chris-hafer-photography.com)

Daunting sky...

I like the vibrant red...

Nice and quiet place to stay ;-))

Nice picture to actually see the size of the waves, and Chris is not 1m60 ;-))

Didn't know they were taking pictures from me too, but I am quite sure there's a blue and grey Superfreak in the back ;-))

Fading colors...

The place where boats die...

Ed Roth's Surfite

Intrgued by last post I went searching for that strange/cool
looking surf vehicle

Found out that's made by Ed Roth.
Threw Surfite and Ed Roth in the Google machine and
found some nice stories + pics. I would advice to do the same!

This Lego edition is nice!~

What a machine..

Put in an electro engine, and you're up to date..

Sweet memories

Although I wished I was there right now, I still have some sweet memories from last week in Bretagne. One of the things I love to do when abroad, is go to the market. There you see the local produce and get the real feel of the place.

Like I said sweet memories.... Remember: strawberries from Plougastel, the best!!!!

Not my favorite, but you have the choice of many ;-)

Vegetables the way vegetables should look.

In the afternoon some light wind and reasonable waves.... That made 4 days windsurfing and 2 days surfing. And it was only Wednesday ;-))

La Palue up to 8 meter high waves...

Today La Palue is going off!
I bet there will be scored in Brittany today/tomorrow!!

Sun, wind and waves

After a day of rain and onshore wind, the sun returned and the forecast was looking good.

A mussel heart ;-))

Low tide...

View through the back of the van.... Nice!!!

Nice easy side shore session with overhead waves.... Top conditions, very UNcrowded, just this session was already worth the trip ;-))

Bretagne pt. 4

Our house was walking distance from the beach, so we took Tinky Winky by the hand and walked there. When she could see the beach Ella would yell "Yeah, there it is!!!"

On our way to the beach, this is the view

The Tinky Winky suit was perfect, she could sit in the wet sand and the cold wind without getting hypothermia ;-))

The first day with wind AND waves was the day with the worst weather.... A lot of rain, but when you're out on the water you get wet anyway ;-))
It was crowded, at least for what we are used to in Bretagne, quite onshore and the waves were close together, but I had a lot of fun jumping and backside waveriding ;-)) And never had anyone in my way despite the crowd.... At mid tide the waves picked up quite a bit to several sets easily being overhead

Icy North winds

Went for a nice but ice cold windsurf session.
Empty beach, sideshore north winds, waves, blue skies
and an amazing looking blue sea.
Body was warm enough (6mm suit), but the hands felt almost off..
In the morning the temperature was around 5 degrees,
but the winds came directly from the Arctics..
